Ranganathans Five Laws are the kernel of LIbrary Philosophy, and there is several attempt to rephrase this five laws in different context it may be in the context of Web, Information, hyperlink, search engine, open archive, Open source or just for fun (like in the case of comics also )
These are few example:
“Web resources are for use.
Every user his or her web resource.
Every web resource its user.
Save the time of the user.
The Web is a growing organism.”
Lennart Björneborn,In his doctoral research entitled, Small-World Link Structures across an Academic Web Space – a Library and Information science approach- he attempt to rephrasing the Five laws in the context of Link.
Links are for use – the very essence of hypertext;
Every surfer his or her link – the rich diversity of links across topics and genres;
Every link its surfer – ditto;
Save the time of the surfer – visualizing web clusters and small-world shortcuts;
The Web is a growing organism
Here is in the form of Search engine :
Every Searcher His / Her Search Engine,
Every Search Engine its Searcher,
Save the Time of the Searcher, and
Search Engine is a growing organism.
In the case of Open source software also :
Software is for use
Every user his or her software
Every software its user
Save the time of the user
A software Library is a growing organism
This above informations are showing that today also Ranganathan Five laws are that much important and relevent what was before, even its increasing.
