According to hindustan times , July 21 news college student will be able to access electronic journals which is now available to premier institute like IIT and IISc. In the first phase, which will start in october 550 colleges will be avail this opportunities to access electronic journals of high repute.
This called as National Library and Information Services Infrastructure (N-LIST)for scholarly content, the Rs 18-crore project is an initiative of the Ministry of Human Resource Development. Ahmedabad’s Information and Library Network Centre, an autonomous inter-university centre of the UGC, will execute the project and be an intermediary between colleges and publishers.
The project will initially cover 6,000 UGC-funded colleges, followed by those that are not funded.
I think this is one of the best step towards empowering colleges for research development and knowledge creation, bridging the digital divide helping INDIA to top rank in scientific output producing country.
